“I started CrossFit in January 2012 and can say it has changed my life completely. After running and training for the SA marathon, I was looking for that new challenge, to try something that was going to push me mentally and physically each day and CrossFit met all the criteria I was looking for. The first month and even a few WOD’s after, I felt this was just something I wouldn’t get. Olympic and dynamic lifting were either brand new or skills I hadn’t done since high school. I would leave MCFSA so frustrated because I wanted to be better and it was a slow learning process. Even with this though, through the help of the coaches and my determination, things improved. I became stronger, movements were less robotic, and I could start to see the results. Each day I would push myself to do an extra rep or increase weight. That challenge I was looking for was being realized. Today, a day doesn’t go by that I don’t want to go to MCFSA or do CrossFit work. It has become a way of life. Drew, Nick, and the other coaches will do whatever they can to get you where you want to be, but you have to do the work. Once you get started, you are hooked. CrossFit is a lifestyle change and one I am grateful for beginning. Above all else MCFSA is a family. They are here to help you. The coaches and fellow CrossFitters truly care for each other. Everyone is encouraging and wants you to get involved within class, competitions, and social events. It is from this, I have been able to gain lifelong friends, and can say without a doubt that the individuals at Mission CrossFit are part of my family.”

“Mission CrossFit is the best gym I have ever had the pleasure being a member of.
The day I walked into Mission CrossFit my idea of fitness changed forever. I am 46 years old now and I am in better shape now then I was in when I was in college. Drew and all of the staff at Mission CrossFit are not only the absolute best trainers that I have ever run into they also create an extremely comfortable environment to workout in. The coaches go out of their way each and every day to ensure you reach your fitness goals. Drew and all the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and approachable which is a perfect combination. You will never feel just like a number at Mission CrossFit, like you might at other gyms. When you are a member of Mission CrossFit you are treated like family. Whatever your fitness goals might be, the coaches at Mission CrossFit will ensure you exceed them. In my opinion there is no better gym anywhere. Drew and all the coaches I can never thank you enough.”

“Drew Bignall has introduced me to a world that is just awesome. A world where I can push myself to new limits and reach greater heights. Drew’ gym, Mission CrossFit SA has been a transformation station for my mind, body and my way of life. I loved the old (little) gym, but can’t say enough good things about his new facility! I remember the first time that I stepped into the old gym (for Drew’ 25th birthday party) and Drew did 15 muscle-ups in a row, and I did one. That was it…I one from then on that I wanted to work as hard as I could until I was able to do 15 in a row (I have made it to 7 so far!).
From the very beginning with Drew to competing in regional competitions and learning a whole new way of eating and thinking about nutrition, Drew has been ever helpful, supportive and always there for me as a coach and more importantly as a friend. I have the best time in San Antonio because of Drew and all the members at Mission CrossFit SA. They have all become my great friends! That is one of the coolest things about the gym; we are all friends inside and outside the gym. That is a big reason why CrossFit is such a great phenomena, which creates an incredibly strong community. It allows me to push myself to the point where I almost blackout with all of my friends laying beside me in pools of sweat…I love it!
Thank you Drew, Coaches and everyone at Mission CrossFit SA!”

“For most of my life, I have identified myself as an athlete. I ran track from 7th grade through college – I was a jumper and thrower, and I was a Team Captain as a senior. Sports provided me discipline, and the team gave me accountability. That all changed when I graduated in 2010. I was one of the unlucky students who graduated without a job during the economic downturn, and I suddenly had no direction. I also had no team, no accountability, no discipline and certainly no structure. I left San Antonio for an (unpaid!) internship in DC for a few months and finally returned with a “real” job. Working full time gave me some structure, but I still felt an emptiness about me. By May 2011, I had gained upwards of 25 pounds and lost most of my self esteem.
Enter, Renee Ulrich. I lived with Renee when I first moved back to San Antonio, and all she could talk about was Mission CrossFit. I thought she was nuts. She had a strange diet and worked out all the time. But all of her talk about CrossFit was infectious. She told me I could do it, and that I’d even be good at it. To tell you the truth, I was afraid of failure. I had felt like a failure for over a year – the struggle of finding a job and gaining weight had taken an emotional toll on me, and I was afraid to add CrossFit to my list of failures.
Finally I joined Renee at a noon class at Mission in late May 2011 – there were only three people there besides Coach Drew! The WOD was 75 hang cleans for time and a 2000m row time trial. “Are you kidding me?” I thought, “There’s no way I can finish that!”. But I did. And then I couldn’t straighten my arms for three days. I was hooked. One year later, I have lost 25 pounds and gained strength, discipline and best of all, self esteem. Mission CrossFit became family, and they hold me accountable and encourage me when I want to give up or cry during a workout. I can’t imagine where I’d be if Renee hadn’t taken me to my first class at Mission, and I am forever grateful that she shared this gift with me. “

“Drew is an amazing trainer! He pushed me to the limit, and gets me the results I want. His workouts are never the same. Be prepared for an exciting and intense workout. I feel better now at 36 than when I was 26! Thanks Drew!”

“If you seek measurable and sustainable results in your workouts… If you value having a professional that can guide you in discovering your physical potential… If trust is an essential component in establishing partnership towards goal attainment… then Drew is your coach! I met Drew 10 months ago, with a set of specific goals and reasonable expectations, and within two sessions Drew had formulated a path to not only meet, but 10 months later, exceed my expectations. Thank you Drew, I look forward to Phase II of our journey.”

“Drew is awesome! I had a few trainers before him, but no one produced the results or made working out as fun as Drew made it. He definitely knows how to push you to work your hardest and get to the next level. Training with Drew gave me skills that I will be able to use wherever I go. Since moving to New York, I joined a CrossFit gym and it’s because I trained with Drew that I can keep up with the workouts. In fact, Drew is such a great trainer that I still work out with him when I’m in town.”
- Daniel Jackson, New York City
“Even though I’ve been doing CrossFit for a year, it’s only been at Mission CrossFit SA that I’ve noticed the biggest difference. Drew pushes you beyond your comfort zone and doesn’t let you give up. I believe his methods are the reason I have seen a difference in my strength and endurance – not to mention the inches of body fat I have lost within a few weeks. I would recommend Drew and Mission CrossFit SA for those who want to make a difference in his/her fitness levels and physique.”

“I have worked out at a few CrossFit gyms and without a doubt, Drew provides the best butt-kicking workouts. The workouts are intense, varied, fun, and effective. I was in San Antonio for a short while and Drew was great about accommodating our hectic schedule. My only regret is having to leave such a great box. Keep it up Drew!”

“I have known Drew all my life. He is an extremely hard worker and will do what it takes to get you in shape. He lives what he teaches. If you want a great trainer who will stop at nothing to get you the results you want in a fast, safe way, then you should be using Drew as you trainer!”
