Renee was born in Albuquerque, NM, and graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2010 and a Master in the Art of Teaching in 2011.
She began swimming at the age of 5, and swam all the way through her four year career at Trinity. Renee earned All-American honors as a swimmer as well as making the All State Team as a water polo player in high school. Her collegiate accolades include being a four-time All-Conference Team swimmer and also being named to the All Sportsmanship Conference Team.
After finishing her swimming career, Renee began to miss the competitive edge and team atmosphere that swimming and water polo had provided her with for so long. Having done some CrossFit training with a local affiliate sporadically throughout college, she decided to give it another shot. After performing “The Bear” WOD on her first day at Mission, she fell in love with CrossFit. CrossFit fed her thirst for intensity and competition and also provided her with a family-like team environment.
Renee is passionate about fitness and has made CrossFit her lifestyle. After teaching 7th grade at a local school, she decided to get her Level 1 Certification to continue to use her love for teaching to share her passion for fitness. Her goal is to create the same impact that she was able to make in her classroom with the added benefit of improving youth fitness in San Antonio.
Renee has many goals in CrossFit, but her main focus is to qualify for regionals as an individual athlete.
