2012 “BEAST MODE” PALEO CHALLENGE

March 18th, 2012    -    April 28th, 2012

1. This Paleo Challenge is going to be a team oriented challenge. The teams will be based on the class times at the gym. 5:30 AM will be Team 1, 6:30 AM will be Team 2, and so on. Each participating athlete will need to sign up with the class time that they most regularly attend. If you are a 5:30 PM loyalist, and get tied up at work one day and have to make the 6:30PM, don’t sweat it, we are simply asking for your allegiance to one class time. The winning class time will have a celebration party!

2. Each athlete must pay an entry fee of $35 dollars and register between March 5th – 16th. YOU MUST SIGN UP WITH A COACH AND PAY BY MARCH 16TH. Each athlete who signs up will get a Paleo Challenge T-Shirt and a body for beach season.

3. Participants must attend a kick-off meeting on Sunday, March 18 at 10:00 AM, where Head Coach Drew Bignall, the Mission CrossFit SA Coaching Staff and past Paleo Challenge winners will give a one hour lecture and Q&A on the theory behind the Paleo diet, how to follow it, and tips for maximizing results. The week prior to the lecture all participants are asked to take pictures and measurements (there will be times allotted for this with a Coach during that week).  These times will be during the class you register with.  So, if you sign-up to be apart of the 5:30pm class, your pictures and measurements will be done during the 5:30pm the week of March 12th – 16th. (The same thing will be done the last week prior to the end of the challenge – April 23rd – 27th)

4. Participants must complete the benchmark workout after the seminar on March 18th that we will measure again at the end of the challenge. Each team will also complete a team benchmark workout during the first week of the challenge.

PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE FOLLOWING:

1. Paleo Dropout: the first athlete to drop out of the challenge (you don’t want to win this).

    *Every time a member of your team drops out, your team will have 1 point added to your team ranking.  Do this a few too many times, and you won’t be able to pull your team back into the winners circle!

2. Biggest Loser: the athlete to lose the most overall-weight.

3. Beast Mode Award: the top 3 individual male and females that have the greatest improved performance, physical adaptation, and percentage of body fat lost.

The sign-up for class times is available at the front desk at the gym.  Make sure to sign up for a time and either authorize us to charge your account or pay via cash/check.  We want to make sure this happens, so you commit to this challenge.  If you are scared, worried or don’t know what to expect, ask a Coach about it and we would be happy to discuss it with you.  You can also do more to help your nutrition, which is the biggest and most important part of your life and what we do in CrossFit.  You work so incredibly hard in here, why not do as much as you can out there to help.

This time period (March 18th – April 28th) is very important to a lot of our athletes.  We will be finishing up the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open Competition and begin training for the 2012 South Central CrossFit Regionals.  Regionals are April 27th-29th this year and they will be held in San Antonio!  So, you can bet that the coaches and athletes who are going to be competing there will hold themselves to the highest standard during the weeks leading up to the Regional.  They will hold you accountable as well.
