DESCRIPTION:We are announcing the next set of Advanced Barbell Prep course dates.  Our last course was a hit! Attendees left the program with a solid understanding of the olympic lifts and are now able to take that knowledge and put it to practice on their own.  We’ve had many requests for anther round of the class so here are the dates and times for our upcoming sessions.  This session will be taught by Coach Ryan Johnson.  He has been coaching CrossFit\, Powerlifting and Olympic lifting for a few years prior to joining Mission\, and has been working with Coach Drew while coaching the Mission Sport program for last year.  He is ready to help you become better at your olympic lifts! \nThis course will be four weeks long (8 sessions) meeting twice a week. The focus will be on the olympic lifts (Snatch\, Clean and Jerk) and their derivatives. Other accessory lifts such as squatting\, pressing and deadlifting will also be addressed. You will be video taped on Day 1 and Day 8 performing the Snatch and Clean & Jerk\, which will then be analyzed.  Between those days\, you will be drilled on technique\, movement patterns and how to be more efficient.  When you walk out on Day 8\, you will have a very strong understanding of how to become better at your olympic lifts.  These methods and techniques can be utilized in classes to make your workouts easier\, or help you achieve a new personal record. \nSTART DATE: Tuesday\, July 12\nDAYS: Tuesday & Thursday\nTIME: 6:00am – 7:00am \nRegistration Closes Tuesday\, July 12 and it LIMITED to only 8 spots. \nQuestions?  Contact Coach Ryan directly at Ryan@missioncrossfitsa.com

DESCRIPTION:This Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 30\, Mission CrossFit San Antonio will host a WOD in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy\, 29\, of Patchogue\, N.Y.\, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th\, 2005. \nThis workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor.” From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.  \nPartition the pull-ups\, push-ups\, and squats as needed.\nStart and finish with a mile run. Simpson\, with his official CrossFit Hero WOD “T.U.P“.  On Saturday\, May 28 from 8:00am – 11:00am\, Mission CrossFit San Antonio will be hosting a charity fundraiser in Mike’s honor.  Everyone is encouraged to attend either to participate in the workout\, or to support the event and cheer others on. \n100% of the proceeds will go towards “The Unquiet Professional” a tax exempt 501c3 non profit organization\, co-founded in Mike’s honor by his wife\, Krista. DESCRIPTION:This clinic focuses on the progression and execution of the handstand.  Coach Meagan will be breaking down the movement entirely and showing athletes what needs to be accomplished in order to obtain an ideal handstand position.  Each participant will be taken through the progression of how to kick up efficiently\, proper body positioning\, fall safely among other aspects. DESCRIPTION:INTERESTED IN GETTING YOUR NUTRITION JUMP STARTED IN JUST 5 WEEKS?   \nSIGN UP FOR THE NEW YEAR ELIMINATION CHALLENGE! \nClick HERE to sign up! \nThe New Year Elimination Challenge is 5-week nutritional challenge where participants must eliminate something from their diet each week. The goal of this challenge is to teach you in a progressive way how to improve your overall nutrition and make a lifestyle of it. Our Training Team will help motivate and guide you towards an ultimate goal of improving your overall health\, performance\, and appearance. \nParticipants must attend a kick-off meeting on Saturday\, January 16 at 8:00am\, where Head Coach Rebekah Cairns and the Mission CrossFit SA Training Team will give a 30-60 minute lecture and Q&A on the theory behind changing your lifestyle\, how to follow the challenge\, and tips for maximizing results.  We will also conduct the benchmark workout creating a baseline to work from. The week leading up to Saturday\, January 15 (January 11 – 15)\, all participants must sign up for a time to get measured and pictures taken (there will be times allotted for this with a Coach during that week). \nParticipants will be ranked in three categories: workout performance\, body weight and body fat.  Therefore\, everything is completely up for grabs. The harder you push yourself in the workouts and the better you eat\, the more likely you are to accomplish your goals and have a strong chance at winning. \nThe challenge will conclude on Saturday\, February 20 where we will retest the benchmark workout. DO I HAVE TO TAKE A PHOTO LIKE THAT?  REALLY?\nWomen wear a sports bra and fitted shorts; men wear shorts and no shirt. Yes\, this is one of the best ways to see how all the hard work you put in worked. The only people who will see these photos will be the Training Team unless you say otherwise.  They will be kept confidential. As your Training Team\, we only want you to be healthy and happy\, so there’s nothing to be concerned about. \nWHEN DO I GET MY MEASUREMENTS DONE?\nThere is a sign-up sheet at the front desk at the gym. Sign-up for only 1 time slot and show up early. The Head Coaches will be measuring a lot of people\, so please be respectful of theirs and others time. \nWHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM 5 WEEKS OF ELIMINATION EATING?\nImproved body composition (fat loss)\, increased energy throughout the day\, reduced joint pain\, better sleeping\, improved blood work\, mood regulation\, other people wanting to be like you.  Seriously\, many of these benefits\, if not all of them are experienced by most people who adopt this way of eating for a significant period of time. \nCAN I CHANGE MY ITEM TO ELIMINATE ON A GIVEN WEEK?\nNo. The items you will be eliminating are selected for specific purposes in a specific order. \nCAN I EAT SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ON THE PROVIDED MEAL PLAN?\nYes\, but consider what you are eating. It must be of equal quality and quantity. We suggest instead of changing the entire meal\, change one part of the meal to keep it simple.

DESCRIPTION:This a clinic focusing on the progression and execution of the handstand.  Coach Meagan will be breaking down the movement entirely and showing athletes what needs to be accomplished in order to obtain an ideal handstand position.  Each participant will be taken through the progression of how to kick up efficiently\, proper body positioning\, fall safely among other aspects. There will be both a Scaled and Rx Division. \nThe Event will kick off at 10 AM and will be completed by 1 PM when the crawfish consumption will start! \nCost will be $30/team and proceeds will go towards the purchase of the crawfish and fixins’.
