Growing Old is Not For Sissies

 In Workout of the Day

So, many of you know who Craig Wingrove is, but if you don’t he’s a fire-breather who comes to our 5:30am classes.  He has grown more than I think he ever could have imagined while doing CrossFit and has been able to accomplish feats he could barely do in College Athletics.  He can do anything I ask of him, always willing to work hard and put in his time to get better, and don’t let me forget…he is 44 years old.  I say this because one of the greatest aspects of CrossFit is that you can do it until the day you croak.  It’s a life-altering fitness program that is not only fun and challenging, but will also get you in the best shape of your life.

The reason I rambled on for a bit about that is that a few days ago, Craig sent me a website that I had originally missed in my online searching.  It’s a website that has an on-line competition for CrossFit Masters!  A CrossFit Master is anyone who is over the age of 40.  This competition is set up in different age groups, Craig being in the 40-44 year age group.  He took on the challenge for this week.  He need 214 reps to take first place…He got 224!  He retained first place for a little, but has moved down to 3rd.  It was amazing to watch him push himself to his breaking point and beyond, and amazing to hear 12 other people cheering him on for the last 2 minutes as loud as they could!  Way to go Craig, can’t wait until next week!
