“For five years, the CrossFit Games season culminates with us naming the fittest man and woman on earth. Competitors from all over the globe battle each other for the title, demonstrating the greatest capacity across broad time and modal domains. Who can do the most work fastest no matter what the task?
This year, Reebok has generously provided a $1 million overall purse for the 2011 Games season. As announced earlier, the world champions will earn $250,000 each. Second and third places get $50,000 and $25,000, respectively. Plus, for the first time ever, every athlete and team that qualifies for the Games at a Regional will receive prize money (see below for details). This is a major step forward in alleviating the financial burden of being a top Games athlete.
We’re grateful to Reebok for their generosity, and eager to see the epic battles at the Regionals and the Games. Stay tuned here to the Games site, as we’ve greatly expanded our Regional coverage. We will have frequent updates via Twitter throughout the weekend, plus stories and videos daily from each event. The Regional Update analyst show will air three times a weekend summarizing the competitions and all the highlights.
