This weekend we sent 1 individual and 1 team to an event in Austin called the Athlete Open.  The event was unlike any other competition our athlete’s have competed in because it was composed of 3 different elements: track, olympic lifting and CrossFit.  Here is the list of athletes that competed:

We also had another member, Jennifer Hackworth, go up to the competition and volunteer all day.

Both Drew and our team placed 3rd in the event!  It is the first competition that our team has finished on the podium!

Our girls swept each one of the track events.  Beth finished 1st in the 200m dash, Brittany won the mile run and the team of Beth, Brittany, Velvet and Kristen won the 4x400m relay.  Several of the athletes from the team did very well in both the olympic lifting portion and WOD portions of the event and everyone played their part in earning their spot on the podium.

Drew placed first the clean and jerk and “Amanda” and third in “Diane”.

It was an amazing weekend for all of those who competed and everyone who showed up to support.
