    Background:
A Minnesota native, Drew grew up with a passion for all sports, having competed in almost every sport, but over time concentrated his efforts towards baseball. He was a competitive gymnast for 8 years and feels that was the best choice his parents could have made for him from an athletic background. Drew is a very ambitious and determined individual and truly believes that quitting is never an option. He played four years of varsity college baseball at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX before an injury stopped him from playing professionally after college. Since April of 2009, Drew has been an active competitor and avid participant in CrossFit Competitions. He has been CrossFitting since November 2008 and plans to continue for the rest of his life. Being a CrossFit coach means more than just coaching to him. He instills those methodologies by “Constantly Varied, Functional Movements, Performed at High-Intensities” to everyone who walks through his door and strives to see them succeed in their own ways. He is constantly driven to learn new fitness techniques and styles, as well as search for up-to-date health and wellness information that he can share with him members. Drew has also been developing a Strength and Conditioning Program based around Powerlifting, Olympic Lifting, CrossFit and overall athletic ability since November of 2010. It is utilized by many of the Mission CrossFit SA’s coaches and athletes who have goals of competing. Drew loves to coach and will teach his program to anyone who is willing to learn, wants to have a true competitive edge over their competition and has the drive to perform at their highest level possible.

    Background:
I was born and raised in Houston, and have two amazing dogs. My main focus as a child was gymnastics, and I spent ages 5-14 competing. In college, I was re-introduced to working out and began going to the local Bally’s 3 times a week. In 2010 a fellow gymnastics coach asked me to accompany her at a CrossFit trial class. After rolling my eyes over the new fad, I told her I’d go. I’ve been hooked on CrossFit since April 2010 and haven’t looked back. I began coaching at P3 CrossFit in Houston in April 2014, but it was cut short when I made my big move to San Antonio. Luckily I was introduced to Mission in 2012, and knew exactly where my new CrossFit home would be. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge while helping others meet their health and fitness goals.

    Background:
I was born and raised in Southern California where I was always an active child growing up. I played all kinds of sports from basketball to football and even baseball. My baseball career lasted the longest as I played through high school, but it never went any further. Before graduating from high school, I had already committed to Marine Corps and had the next few years of my life already planned out for me. The Marine Corps gave me the opportunity to not only stay active participating in many physically challenging activities, but I also got to travel the world serving my country, including my 8 month deployment to Iraq. Because of all of that, I am proud to call myself a Marine. I moved to San Antonio in 2005 for a better opportunity to raise my two beautiful girls, Isabel and Brianna, and there I found CrossFit. In August of 2009, I had my first experience with CrossFit and it changed my life forever. Having seen what CrossFit did for myself, I truly believe that anyone can do it, you just have to put your mind to it. The most amazing thing about CrossFit is that it is fully scalable and programmable to anyone; men, women, kids, elderly, no matter what your age or skill level…YOU CAN CROSSFIT.

I started CrossFit in 2010 about 4 months after I had my second child. I was looking for something more intense and new and I found everything I was looking for and more at Mission CrossFit SA. I was a dancer in high school and after that just a typical girl on the ellyptical who bounced around on a few machines here and there. I loved working out but wanted to learn more so I got my first personal training certification in 2008 and started training. I’m so glad I found CrossFit because I have never found such a hard working group of people in any other gym. The members and fellow coaches push me to better myself every day. The encouragement and support I have from my CrossFit family gives me a positive place to work and train every day.

    Background:
I was born in Pontiac, Michigan, raised in Chesapeake, Virginia and have now lived in Cibolo, Texas for 12 years as the youngest of three. Growing up I was in ballet and tap and played a little bit of soccer and tennis. In high school, I was in band and JROTC, which lead me to an Army ROTC scholarship at UTSA until I injured my knee. That’s when my brother Marco, one of our former coaches here, noticed I was struggling to get back to the shape I was in before my injury. He said I needed something new, challenging, and fun, and he introduced me to Mission CrossFit SA in 2011. After attending a grueling weekend WOD, I immediately fell in love. The community was encouraging and supportive and helped me regain my confidence. I eventually started volunteering here at MCFSA and was offered the opportunity to turn my passion into something more, and received my Level 1. Four years and counting, I still get my butt kicked during every WOD, but I still call it my second home.

I found CrossFit 4 years ago. After going through a divorce I was needing something new in my life. What I found was more that I could have ever expected. What I have learned about myself was incredible – I am strong, resilient and patient. But what I have gained is much more than my new PRs. I gained a community of friends, encouragers, teachers and family.

I also learned that people can do MUCH more than they think they can. All we need is someone to guide us and believe in us. Coaching CrossFit allows me to teach and motivate others – I am able to give back to a community that has given me more than I could have dreamed.

    Background:
As a military brat I have had the opportunity to call many places home but I like saying I’m from San Antonio. My athletic background is in basketball, which I pursued into college. A shoulder injury ending my playing career but my passion for the sport remained. I spent five years coaching basketball to youth teams and summers traveling Texas teaching skills and fundamentals. During my time as a private fundamentals coach I realized I had an eye for improving movement patterns and coaching athletes.

I graduated in 2007 from UTSA with a major in Management and a minor in Finance. Shortly after graduating I realized I needed to get back in shape. I stumbled upon Crossfit in 2008 and began working out by myself for a year at the local YMCA. In late 2009 I finally joined a Crossfit affiliate and realized I had the potential to compete in the sport of Crossfit. During my first Crossfit open I suffered a ruptured Achilles and spent the next 9 months rehabbing from the injury. In 2011 I was able to qualify for the regional competition as a member of a team and began coaching shortly thereafter.

The years of competing and coaching has only deepened my appreciation for Crossfit and its ability to create community and help individuals achieve their goals. I look forward to the opportunity to work with and alongside every athlete that walks through our doors.

    Background:
Being born and raised in San Antonio, I’ve been able to see and be apart of the healthy upswing that the city has been through, which I find exciting. Even more exciting is to see the role that CrossFit has had. For myself, like so many others in this town, being healthy does not come easy. I love food (and not always the good for you kind) and sometimes making it into the gym isn’t always easy. About 7 years ago, I really hit a unhealthy low. I decided to make some changes to my eating habits and started a workout regimen. That helped me lose a few pounds, but still not reach my fitness and strength goals. During that process, I began to realize that my physical line of work was going to need supplemental help as well. So about 6 years ago, I attended a CrossFit class with my wife. The whole way there I was pretty confident that they had nothing for me. It would be a breeze. After only 20 minutes, I was trying to keep up with people twice my age! What?! How?! I also was having to fight not to throw my lunch up, but I was sold. The time of just lifting weights and getting on a treadmill for some cardio had nothing on CrossFit. I’ve seen the benefits of these constantly varied workouts. With Mission, I’ve been finding the fun and enjoyment in being and staying healthy. Being able to coach here is an honor. The family and team atmosphere that is bread here comes second to none. Athletes of all levels, ages, and goals, always rooting for one another is what it’s about. That’s what makes coaching so enjoyable. To give help, guidance and confidence to our members and many visitors, will never get old. I will continue to enjoy seeing people get faster, stronger, more confident and braver with their approach to CrossFit.

As a former member and officer of the Texas State University Strutters Dance Team, I never expected to enjoy the crazy, aggressive sport of CrossFit. But after a few months of training at Mission CrossFit SA in 2010, I was surprised by both my love for the sport and the dramatic gains in my athletic abilities. In 2011, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 Certification and took over the Women’s Program at MCFSA. It is a true joy to guide these ladies to levels of strength and endurance that many never believed they could reach! We have created a strong and supportive community at MCFSA, one that I hope will encourage more women to give CrossFit a chance. I love coaching all our athletes to their health and fitness goals, and helping them realize a greater sense of self-confidence along the way.

    Background:
It was December 2013 when I ran out of excuses and I was tired of failing to ‘get fit before I start CrossFit,’ on my own, I took my partners advice and contacted Coach Amy at Mission CrossFit. She welcomed me to the women’s only class where reality smacked me in the face. I was seriously out of shape. Amy believed in me, and she made it apparent by giving me feedback and support. She invited me to come watch A League of their Own (ALOTO) a women’s competition. ALOTO was nothing short of life changing. I watched the women sweat, be strong, push themselves, grit their teeth, cheer for each other, fail at times, be aggressive, and have some serious fun.

Now I understand that CrossFit math does add up. Show up to class, plus give it all I got and have fun, equals me looking like these beautifully strong women all around me. I have not looked back sense. Mission CrossFit provides a formula that will produce results. Life has changed in numerus way! I’m less stressed more positive, wear smaller sizes and speak kinder to myself about my body. Mission CrossFit has reminded me that I am an athlete and I feel confident saying so. I am a stronger cyclist, confident on the volleyball court and more likely to take on a challenge.

My work has always been focused on helping clients find meaningful change in their lives. Introducing people to CrossFit is another way that I can effect change and help others uncover their strength and reach new personal records. I’m honored to be working alongside intelligent and experienced coaches who care about getting you over your fear and into a new way of life. Let health and fitness become not only a priority, but the best hour of your day. Welcome to Mission CrossFit San Antonio. Let’s get started!

I’ve been an athlete and around athletes my entire life. I was involved in youth sports from a young age, I’ve been a part of several successful high school and College team sports and educational societies. I began coaching in my teens for the parks and recreation programs for the cities of San Antonio and Austin. I obtained my bachelors degree in Health and Physical Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1989. I began a career with major psychiatric hospitals as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in San Antonio, San Marcos, Dallas and Laredo. I began CrossFit in early 2009 and have had my CFL-1 since 2012.

I have three sons, all of which have provided me with the best entertainment anyone could ask for. These boys forged my mentality for adulthood as I continued teaching and modeling athletic endeavors for them and my community. As a member of the San Antonio Police Department I felt pride in my appearance, dedication and camaraderie to the community at large. I’ve dedicated countless hours as both an employee and volunteer to the Bexar County Hospital District and to the Bexar County Family Justice Center for domestic violence. I completed the masters program at St. Mary’s University in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2009 and truly cherish the opportunities that have brought to meet and be a part of people’s healing. I’ve had personal losses associated with diabetes, disease, and the pain associated with unhealthy lifestyle choices. I know personally, the hopelessness that comes with not knowing how or where help is going to come from. I currently own a medical weight loss clinic and strive to educate people on the dangers of excessive body fat, unhealthy eating and self destructive behavior and thinking patterns as they apply to the wellness spectrum. As a CrossFit coach I enjoy assisting people in achieving their personal athletic goals. My personal interests these days are weight lifting, cooking, community events, river adventures, coaching youth soccer and anything that keeps my teenagers occupied.

“I have been providing services as a licensed massage therapist in San Antonio, Texas since 1997 with a primary emphasis on deep tissue massage and a specific interest in Sports Injury Rehabilitation. Nine of those years were in a doctor’s office.

I strive to offer focused, on-target service based on your needs, expressed through two-way communication as needed during sessions.

I have personal experience with what it is like to have limited activities of daily living caused by sports injuries. I played several sports from elementary through high school and dislocated my knees several times–among other injuries. As a result, I have experienced pain from those old injuries that sometimes prevents me from engaging in my normal daily activities. I believe that by experiencing ongoing issues and pain from sports injuries myself, I understand intimately the seriousness and frustration of not being able to carry out my normal activities without pain.

I love what I do because it allows me to increase the quality of people’s lives by removing pain and physical limitations so that they may live their lives comfortably.”
